New CO 814 NAS

Published: 23 Mar 2024

Congratulations to Commander Ed ‘Dutch’ Holland (right) who has taken over command of 814 Naval Air Squadron, The Flying Tigers. Pictured handing over command of the RNAS Culdrose Merlin helicopter squadron is the former CO Commander Amy Gaunt.

Commander Holland is a Plymouth University graduate and joined the Royal Navy in 2006, obtaining his ‘wings’ in 2010 as an anti-submarine warfare observer.

He served with naval air squadrons 820, 829 and 824 before joining 814 as the senior observer and executive officer before he was promoted to commander in 2022.

Returning to 814 NAS this week as commanding officer, he said: “I am coming back to Culdrose now having been away just short of two years, so it’s great to be back and on operations.”

814 NAS has seen a busy year with multiple flights deployed to frigates and other warships in support of live anti-submarine warfare operations to protect the UK and our allies.
