An Apache of 664 Army Air Corps operates from HMS ILLUSTRIOUS in the Channel in late July 2011. (Picture Crown Copyright/Mod 2011).
Previous images on this site have shown HMS OCEAN operating the Apache aircraft however the United States, France and Italy all operated fixed wing aircraft from aircraft carriers during the operations. The UK operated fixed wing ground based aircraft only from Italian airbases and in some instances from the UK. Costs of these operations are shown in an article below.
