AGM and corona virus

Published: 16 Mar 2020

 A message from the Chairman:

Fellow Officers,

I am sure all of our members will be as conscious as I am of the ever increasing restrictions being placed upon us by the Government to smooth the spread of Covid-19 (Corona virus) to ease the current global pandemic.

We all have a responsibility to play our part in this endeavour and I believe holding our AGM in London would add additional and unnecessary risk to some of our members through travel and contact whilst in London.

It is therefore with regret that i have taken a decision, supported by our President and the committee, to cancel the AGM next week under the provision of Rule 18

Rule 18 - Emergency Action by Committee states:

Notwithstanding anything else contained in these Rules and notwithstanding that such action would be otherwise outside the scope of its powers the Committee may in any matter or urgency take such action as it thinks fit in the interests of the Association provided that the Committee shall report on such action to the next General Meeting of the Association.

I intend to hold a short meeting by skype or telecom with the secretary and treasurer to formally verify the accounts which i will endorse and ask Gill to distribute.

Thank you for cooperation and support as we work through these unique times.

In the meantime please stay calm and healthy.

Simon
