The Swordfish was one of the Royal Navy’s most successful combat aircraft and the day will be a tribute to this iconic and much loved bi-plane.

For those who flew or maintained the Swordfish or are a Fleet Air Arm veteran who saw active service in WW2, we would love to hear from you. Similarly, if you worked for Fairey or Blackburn, or are a friend or family member of someone in the Royal Navy or Merchant Navy who served with the Swordfish at sea, we are looking for people to share their stories and experiences of what it was like flying and working with these remarkable Naval aircraft 70 years ago.

Veterans will be invited to RNAS Yeovilton on 21 September as guests of the Charity and are invited to call Laila on 01935 455685.

Tickets for this event, including the privileged opportunity to meet our veterans and hear their memories, will be on sale to Supporters at £70. The day will include lunch in the Wardroom and access to the Navy Wings Heritage Hangar. If you are not already a Supporter, you may purchase a ticket for this event for £100 and become a member of Navy Wings.

The Swordfish W5856 is currently undergoing essential work to ensure she conforms to current aviation communications requirements, which require her to have a new radio fit.  This work must be carried out before she transitions onto the civil aircraft register next year, which will be the first stage of a transfer from RN ownership to that of Navy Wings.

The money raised from the event will help the Swordfish LS326 join the Swordfish W5856 for the 2019 display season. We look forward to seeing you!
