RNAS Culdrose Air Day 2016

28Jul2016

Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose is pleased to announce the date for ‘Air Day’ 2016 - Thursday 28th July.

The annual event, which has become a firm favourite on the Cornish event calendar, enables the general public to experience the sights, sounds and smells ‘onboard’ one of the Royal Navy’s helicopter bases, whilst seeing breathtaking flying displays in the sky. It is the only day of the year when the public can ‘experience the world of Culdrose’ and see what happens behind the security gates.

The Commanding Officer of Culdrose, Captain Adrian Orchard OBE said: “We had a fabulous Air Day this year and we are already looking forward to the 2016 event. It is really important that once a year we open up our gates to show off our amazing aircraft, our highly training personnel and tell visitors from across Cornwall and beyond, why RNAS Culdrose is so vital to the Royal Navy.”

“Our Air Day is a bit different from the other air shows across the United Kingdom. It is one of the few events run by a military establishment, and we put a lot of effort into giving non-military personnel the opportunity to come into our world. At the 2016 event, I am keen that not only will our visitors witness fantastic flying displays, but they get a chance to meet those serving on operations across the World and learn about our outstanding aircraft and training facilities. We will work hard to make it another day to remember.”

Now that the date has been set, the Air Day team will start to book aircraft for the flying display and military acts for the arena. A list of aircraft participating in the event will be announced next year and tickets for the event will be on sale in the New Year. More information about the event will be available soon at www.culdroseairday.com
