Poppy of Honour

There will be a march through Wincanton starting at 10.20 to dedicate the glass fronted Poppy of Honour 2018 which contains 1.117 million hand written poppies one for every serviceman that died in the First World War. After the march through the town at the Cale recreation ground a service with 2 mins silence including a large calibre gun to start it and a poppy petal drop by 3 First World War biplanes. The salute will be taken by the Lord Lieutenant of the County with other dignitaries in attendance.

After the memorial has been on display for a month it is then touring he major towns of the Southwest later in the year follows by a National tour of cities next year.
