We would be delighted if you can join us for our next Wellington Heritage Lecture on Monday, October 11th, starting at 18.30.The lecture will last about an hour with some time after that for questions and discussion.

A presentation of world discovery and exploration through the sea charts across the centuries


Presented by Lieutenant Commander John Blake FRIN RN

John Blake is an author and Maritime Historian. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation and a member of the Society of Authors.

John served in the Royal Navy and in the Reserve for nearly 16 years as an executive and navigating officer, qualifying as an underwater diver and air defence specialist, and attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.  

He has had 5 books published; Sea Chart, Sea Charts of the British Isles, Charts of War, The Titanic Pocket Book, HMS Belfast Pocket Manual and has contributed to several more including the Oxford Encyclopaedia of Maritime History.

 

The Lecture will be hosted by the Wellington Trust Chairman, Alastair Chapman and questions by Zoom Q&A will be asked at the end of the session.
