Park School pupils visit 845 NAS

Published: 02 Oct 2014

Twenty pupils from theParkSchoolin Yeovil were invited to visit 845 Naval Air Squadron, part of the Commando Helicopter Force, to learn about the aircraft frequently seen flying over their school.

The visit began with a presentation by Flt Lt Becky Rowlands and Cpl Sean Frank on the role of 845 NAS, the Commando Helicopter Force and life on combat operations.

After the presentation and with a new-found understanding of what the Sea King and the Royal Navy and Royal Marine crews do, both at sea and on land, the pupils had a hangar tour and a chance to climb on board the Sea King for a thorough look around.

Mr Matthew Baker, who teaches at theParkSchooland accompanied the pupils on the visit said, “We have had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to 845 Squadron. We see lots of helicopters flying over the school so a chance to visit RNAS Yeovilton and 845 Squadron was a wonderful experience. The students have enjoyed the morning, learning about the Sea Kings and they were all very excited to see the helicopters and climb onboard.”
