National Italian Jet Team To Fly At Culdrose Air Day: Their Only UK Display

Published: 25 Mar 2015

Italy’s version of the Red Arrows, the ‘Frecce Tricolori’, have announced that they will display at the 2015 RNAS Culdrose Air Day – currently the only UK Air Show on their schedule.

The fast flying team, made up of ten ‘Aermacchi MB-339’ jets, will be one of the headline acts at the Cornish Air Station’s annual Air Day on Thursday 30th July.  They will join a range of other exciting flying acts including a Swiss Air Force F18, the Breitling Wing Walkers, the Royal Navy Black Cats and the Blades.  With fast jets and aerobatic display teams, historic aircraft and military helicopters taking part, the flying display for 2015 is sure to thrill visitors, as Lieutenant Commander Nick Lee (Display Organiser) explains:

“The team at Culdrose will be delighted to welcome the Italian Air Force aerobatic display team to Cornwall this summer.  We are really excited to welcome them back to Culdrose again to thrill the crowds and are honoured to be their only UK Air show on their display list this year.  The Frecce Tricolori are a very tight display team, the Italian Air Force’s version of the Red Arrows, so they are sure to impress the crowds and will be very noisy!”

“The Italians add to what is already looking to be a very exciting day of flying at Culdrose.  We have some fantastic displays lined up; from aerobatic display teams, to fast jets, historic war birds and military helicopters, there really is something for every aviation fan.  We are also planning plenty to see and do on the ground too.  We still have a few more special visitors that we hope to be able to announce soon.”

As well as an exciting, action-packed flying display, there will also be lots of things to see, touch and experience on the ground.  Visitors can climb onboard aircraft, take a ride in a helicopter, be winched high into the air or jump into the driving seat of a military fire engine.  The Culdrose Naval Air Squadrons and units will be on display ready to talk about what they do and explain how their aircraft are deployed and used around the world.

More information about the event and a list of display aircraft will be available soon at www.culdroseairday.com
