Merlin log lift to remote mountain cabins in Norway.
Aircrew and two Commando Merlins from 845 Naval Air Squadron, under the coordination of CHF’s Commando Mobile Air Operations Team have undertaken the move 7000kgs of logs.
The underslung lift of much needed wood for the Vuoma cabins, one of the Norwegian Trekking association’s most secluded cabins in the Øvre Dividal National Park, is a valuable flight training and coordination exercise in hostile Arctic conditions.
Theremote cabins are open throughout the year for use by anyone using the national park, and provides fuel for heating and cooking.
The log lift to a variety of cabins with difficult accessibility has become an annual task, and which is looked forward to by those on Operation Clockwork. It is a way that the Clockwork team can say thank you to the welcoming Norwegian people of the region and for their warm friendship and support as we carry out essential and critical training.
