LOGISTICS LEGS TO THE TEST AS THEY PREPARE FOR CYCLE CHALLENGE

Published: 29 May 2018

PERSONNEL from the Logistics department at Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) are preparing to cycle from one Air Station to the other in the name of Charity.

The Team will cover 200 miles over three days to raise funds for RNRMC (Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity) starting from RNAS Yeovilton at 0930 riding to Oakhampton Camp Oakhampton to Launceston 19 June,     Launceston to RNAS Culdrose 20 June, due to arrive around 1530.

Petty Officer Paul Melling part of the cycling posse said

The idea of doing some form of ride came about last year and various routes including Coast2Coast were discussed, however due to work commitments we could not achieve it so we planned to do it this summer.

Once we had decided to do a ride we thought riding from RNAS Yeovilton to Culdrose would be a good idea, just long enough to be challenging but not too long that it put pressure on those left in the department to continue covering operational requirements.  We thought it would be a good idea to put something back as RNRMC has been very generous over the last 18 months supporting all the improvements around the Establishment so we thought rising money as we go would be a good way to achieve this. “

TAS 2 TAS (Typed Air Station, Type of aircraft) as the challenge is known hopes to raise £10,000 for RMRMC a charity that supports our Sailors, Marines and their families for life.

Good Luck from us all.
