Helston Remembrance Sunday

Published: 15 Nov 2022

There was a large turnout for a poignant Remembrance parade in Helston today, Sunday, attended by sailors from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose.

The event was held at 11am beside the monument in Coinagehall Street. It was organised by the Royal British Legion and featured Helston Town Band, Helston Town Council, Devon and Cornwall Police, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service as well as representatives as the town’s churches, schools and many of Helston's clubs such at the Brownies, Guides and Air Cadets.

RNAS Culdrose commanding officer Captain Stuart Irwin read out a list of war dead from the town and there were hymns, prayers and readings before the laying of wreaths. Sailors from the air station also attended services across west Cornwall.
