Blackhawk down
Published: 30 Oct 2014
We’ve got a Blackhawk down, we’ve got a Blackhawk down… down safely on the deck of amphibious support ship RFA Lyme Bay.
Fliers from 2nd Battalion 147th Assault Helicopter Battalion made use of the large flight deck – and the auxiliary’s flight deck team – to earn deck landing qualifications so they can .
The fliers are drawn from the Minnesota National Guard, based in St Paul, and are normally used to move troops and kit around, as well as supporting civil authorities.
The battalion is currently deployed to the Gulf… as is Lyme Bay, the latter in support of the Royal Navy’s annual Cougar amphibious deployment which has recently seen US and UK forces in the region link up for Exercise Cougar Voyage.
