Award to RNAS Culdrose Officer

Lieutenant Commander Richard Lewis has been awarded the Queen’s Voluntary Reserve Medal in recognition of his outstanding service as the Air operations Officer and Sea King Observer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Richard, known as “Dickie” in the Fleet Air Arm, has been complimented for his invaluable service to the Royal Navy both in and around the United Kingdom and on operational deployments abroad.

Now serving with 849 Naval Air Squadron at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose where his experience and skill as an Airborne Surveillance and Control (ASaC) Observer are highly valued, particularly during the current operations involving the ASaC Sea Kings in Afghanistan.

Awarded the medal at Buckingham Palace, Dickie was accompanied by his wife and other members of his family.
