Video recording work in Afghanistan by ASaC Sea Kings

Published: 08 Aug 2014

After five years in Afghanistan the Royal Navy Sea King squadron returned home to RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall.

Since May 2009, 854 and 857 NAS, played a role flying Sea King Mk 7 Airborne Surveillance and Control (SKASaC) aircraft for more than 9,000 hours over 2,000 sorties to support troops on the ground as part of 903 Expeditionary Air Wing.

The SKASaCs, which were used to locate insurgents’ arms caches, track drugs shipments and follow the movements of insurgents, are now back in the UK and a short video has been produced documenting their involvement by the Army Combat Camera Team (Camera and editing: Sgt Obi Igbo, Producer: Capt Sam Tant)
