Special Delivery for Junglies in Afghanistan

Published: 15 Mar 2012

Fresh back from a mission in Afghanistan, Royal Marines from the Commando Helicopter Force at RNAS Yeovilton were delighted to receive a large number of goody bags from Slimming-World consultants Jill Love and Samantha Chatfield. Inside the special parcels were lots of toiletries and gifts that Jill’s slimming team had donated.

After the presentation, Chief Petty Officer Justin Blackford, from the Commando Helicopter Force Mobile Air Operations Team who work as aviation advisors to deployed units in Theatre said,

”Each of the Commando Helicopter Force elements currently serving in Afghanistan really appreciate the tremendous support that Slimming World provides. These gifts go a long way to cheering us up during the heat, dust and fast paced working routine. Today has been a very humbling experience and saying Thank You does not seem enough.”

This is the third donation that Jill has organised and made to Commando Helicopter Force personnel in Afghanistan. Each bag of goodies is accompanied with a thank you letter from Slimming-World which will be passed to the recipients of the gifts.

Corporal Daniel Hall RM added,

“I’ve not seen so many gifts in all my life - it was like Christmas all over again. We will now put some of the goodies into smaller boxes and will not only deliver them to our people in Theatre for delivery not only to CHF personnel but to the army and RAF guys who are posted on the front line.”

After a quick tour and brief Jill and added.

“We in Slimming-World are extremely proud of the work these brave Naval personnel undertake in such an extremely dangerous part of the world. They justifiably earn the highest admiration and respect of the British public and we hope our contribution will go some way in reminding them that we are always thinking of them.”
