RNAS CULDROSE ON GOOD FORM FOR CAROL CONCERT

Personnel from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose took a moment to reflect on the traditional meaning of Christmas at the annual Station Carol Service in the Warrant Officers and Senior Rates Mess.

Accompanied by HMS Seahawk Volunteer Band and led by Colour Sergeant Dom O’Conner Royal Marines Band Service, the assembled congregation put heart and soul into a collection of well known traditional carols. Sailors, airman and Civilians from Squadrons, departments and units who work all over the Navy’s Cornish Air Station were reminded by Royal Naval Chaplain the Reverend Tudor Botwood of the Christmas message.

“It’s important to remember those personnel deployed away from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose and their loved one’s over Christmas”, said Tudor. “We are especially thinking of all those on RFA Argus off the coast of West Africa delivering vital aid to Sierra Leone”.

Speakers throughout read verses from the Bible that told the nativity story, one of the Speakers was Captain Mark Garratt, Commanding officer of RNAS Culdrose who said after the service, “It’s been a very busy and important year for Culdrose and amongst all the other activities at this time of year across the Air Station, it’s good that we remember traditional values and what Christmas is all about. We have people away this Christmas on Operations, where ever the Royal Navy are deployed and our thoughts are with them and their families.”

The Reverend Tudor was very pleased with the turnout and offered mince pies and warming drinks to all that attended. Thanking everyone for turning up, wished all at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, Sailors, Airman, Civilians, Contractors, and Families & Friends......
