PROUD MOMENT AS ROYAL WARRANT PARCHMENT PRESENTED AT YEOVILTON
WARRANT Officer from Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton celebrates receiving his Warrant Officer Parchment from the Head of the Fleet Air Arm.
At small ceremony in the Hangar of 825 Naval Air Squadron (NAS), Rear Admiral Keith Blount OBE – ACNS (Assistant Chief of Naval Staff – Aviation and Carriers) presented Warrant Officer Paul Roe with the parchment acknowledging his achievement in reaching Warrant Officer Class 1.
Warrant Officer Paul Roe has served in the Royal Navy for 25 years and said;
“This is one of the proudest moments in my Naval career a culmination of 25 years of service with a first class family of people in the Royal Navy and the support of my family without which none of this would have been possible.”
When asked what the highlight of his career had been spanning over 25 years WO1 Roe added;
“A highpoint in my career was being awarded the Osprey Trophy when I was SMR ( Senior Maintenance Rating) with 815 NAS on Lynx Flight 214 in 2014 for our achievements in the sanctioned operation to remove Chemical weapon chemicals from Syria as part of the mobile task group with HMS Montrose”
A Warrant Officer is a member of the highest group of non-commissioned ranks holding the Queen’s Warrant Parchment signed by the Secretary of State for Defence
Rear Admiral Blount also awarded LSGC (Long Service and Good Conduct) medals to Personnel on 825 NAS including their Commanding Officer, Commander Simon Collins for 18 years’ service alongside AB1 badges to two Writers.
Rear Admiral Blount said:
It is very important that we stand here today and reflect on the outstanding achievements of our personnel and the extraordinary accomplishment of our Warrant Officer, a rank held in the highest regard across Defence. Very well done to all of you as we find ourselves in the Fleet Air Arm at a very busy period and so to the rest of 825 NAS not being awarded today thank you for all for that you have given and what you continue to give in support.”
