Naval Strike Wing forms.

Naval Strike Wing was the naval element of Joint Force Harrier, made up of elements of 800 NAS and 801 NAS equipped with Harrier GR7 and GR9 variants.

Only three years later on 1 April 2010, NSW reverted to the identity of 800 NAS, flying the Harrier GR9 and GR9A variants. On 19 October 2010, the government announced in its Strategic Defence and Security Review that the Harrier force was to be scrapped.  Harrier GR9s made their last ever flight from HMS Ark Royal, on 24 November 2010. The Harrier fleet's farewell occurred on 15 December 2010.
