Wessex HU.5 707 Culdrose

9 December 1964, 707 Squadron forms as an Operational and Advanced Flying Training (OFT/AFT) Commando Helicopter Squadron (Wessex HU.5) at RNAS Culdrose.

The squadron moved to move to Yeovilton 15 May 1972 and provided the nucleus of a reformed 848 Squadron in the Falklands conflict in 1982 (Wessex HU.5) & again in the Gulf in 1991 (Sea King) before being redesignated 848 NAS, 9 February 1995. 848 NAS, based at RNAS Yeovilton, still trains crews for Commando Helicopter Force.
