On this day 3 August 1941- First 'kill' by a fighter from a fighter catapult ship
Lt RWH Everett RNVR, flying a Sea Hurricane of 804 Squadron which had been launched from HMS MAPLIN, a Royal Navy Fighter Catapult Ship acting as convoy escort, shot down a Focke-Wulf 200 Condor.
With no flight deck or diversion ashore available the Hurricane had to be ditched.
