On this day 29 September 1950 HMS Theseus deploys to Korea
HMS Theseus, commanded by Captain A S Bolt, DSC, RN, with 807 Squadron (Sea Fury) and 810 (Firefly) Squadron embarked deployed to Korea from 29 September 1950 to 23 April 1951. She relieved HMS Triumph.
HMS Triumph had been on on exercise off Japan and was immediately deployed to Korea after the North Korean invasion, staying on station until 29 September 1950.
Vice Admiral W G Andrewes, KBE, CB, DSO, was Commander of the British Commonwealth and Allied Fleet in Korean Waters, also responsible for the naval blockade of Korea.
