On this day 26 September 1939 803NAS Blackburn Skua shoots down the first German aircraft of WW2
On patrol with HMS Ark Royal and flying a Blackburn Skua, 803 Squadron's Lt BS McEwen and PO BM Seymour shot down a Dornier 18 off Heligoland. This was the first German aircraft shot down in World War II by any Service.
