Flying Tiger reaches high in the Sun

With over 30 years of aviation experience under his belt, one of our ‘Flying Tigers’ has just reached a huge 5000 flying hours milestone whilst deployed on operations in the Middle East.

Lt Cdr Mark Tetley, who clocked his hours up both instructing and on the frontline flying in Sea King and Merlin aircraft, is currently the Warfare Instructor on 814 Naval Air Squadron.

Mark’s achievement was recognised in the Gulf, where 814 NAS are currently deployed on operations, by Defence Attaché, Cdre Henry Duffy and the Naval & Air Attaché Cdr Kevin Broadley.

Mark and Kevin are no strangers having previously flown together 27 years ago whilst serving on 820 Naval Air Squadron.

Whilst Mark’s collegues back at Culdrose have been enjoying a heatwave in Helston, he has been trying to keep cool as temperatures rarely get below 45 degrees in the Gulf at the moment!
