First RN pilot flies F-35B

Lt Cdr Ian Tidball became the first Royal Navy pilot to fly a sortie in the F-35B Lightning II on 10 April 2013 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  Ian Tidball, has joined the U.S. Marines Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, which is conducting initial training and instruction on the F-35B. He has flight experience in the Harrier and the F-18 Super Hornet.
