Dutch head of helicopter command visits RNAS Culdrose
The Commander of the Dutch Defence Helicopter Command paid a welcoming visit to Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose recently, to see how his New NH 90 anti-submarine helicopters were working with the Royal Navy.
As part of the official duties to the Fleet Air Arm’s West Cornwall Base, Air Commodore Jan Willem Westerbeek from the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) along with Colonel Harold Boekholt, Head of Helicopter Operations RNLAF, paid their respects to Captain Mark Garratt, Commanding Officer RNAS Culdrose.
The Commodore had visited Cornwallas a civilian whilst on holiday to the UKa few years before and was delighted to return in an official capacity. “It is such a wonderful part of the United Kingdom, not only for holidays. My Aircrew and Engineers who come as part of this three NH90 Helicopter detachment are always thrilled to operate from Culdrose and sample the Cornish way. We achieve so much when we visit and I look forward to returning again, it is always a pleasure”.
