Armed Forces Day

Nationwide
29Jun2013

This year’s Armed Forces Day national event is being held in Nottingham, and event organisers are planning a spectacular programme of activities for military personnel and their families, veterans and visitors to make this a truly memorable occasion that the whole family can enjoy.

But the excitement isn’t just confined to Nottingham, as hundreds of events are being planned around the country to mark Armed Forces Day. Events are being added to the AFD website so keep an eye on the event listings page to see what’s being planned in your area, and if you are organising your own event don’t forget to list it online.

In addition, more than 40 events have so far received a partnership payment from the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The deadline for event organisers to get in touch about receiving funding is 31 March, so if you are considering putting on an event there’s no time to waste! Simply visit the Hold an Event section of our website to find out more. You’ll be joining an illustrious list that includes Plymouth, Cardiff, Cleethorpes and Grimsby. If you have any questions about applying for funding call the Armed Forces Day team on 020 7807 0970.

To mark 100 days to go, Nottingham City Council has also announced that it is teaming up with BBC Radio Nottingham, It’s in Nottingham and Experience Nottinghamshire to host a Big Night Out, an evening of entertainment, activities and special offers from 6pm on Armed Forces Day. It will follow the Armed Forces Day national event in Nottingham, which will feature a parade through the city centre and a day of celebrations at Victoria Embankment. The Black Cats will be flying in Nottingham.
