839 Naval Air Squadron

Theo Ballance has discovered that a previously unknown 839 Squadron existed briefly at China Bay in early 1942.

The only known record of the squadron is an entry in the Navy List May 1942. Does anyone have more information - dates, intended task, aircraft, anything at all.
